October 2026 Latin America Tax Compliance Calendar: What Businesses and Individuals Should Check Now

October is a high-risk month for filing and payment obligations across Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Chile, and Argentina. This practical guide separates genuine deadlines from broader regulatory changes and highlights controls taxpayers should implement before month-end.

Why October 2026 Requires a Coordinated Review

Taxpayers operating across Latin America should not treat October as a single regional deadline. Each administration applies different filing calendars, identification rules, and electronic systems. The most useful approach is to create a country-by-country compliance matrix covering the taxpayer, obligation, taxable period, filing channel, payment date, and evidence of submission.

Colombia: Income Tax, Withholding, and Sector-Specific Payments

The Colombian tax authority identifies October deadlines for individual income-tax returns for tax year 2025, with dates assigned according to the taxpayer's NIT. The October calendar also includes withholding-tax returns and payments for September 2026, as well as the national gasoline and ACPM tax. Businesses should reconcile their withholding ledgers to payroll, vendor payments, and self-withheld amounts before filing.

Recommended controls:

  • Confirm the last NIT digit used for the deadline.
  • Reconcile withholding certificates with the accounting ledger.
  • Check whether the business is liable for monthly fuel-related filings.
  • Preserve the electronic filing receipt and payment confirmation.

Peru: Non-Domiciled Digital and Cross-Border Providers

SUNAT's 2026 calendar includes a specific filing and payment schedule for non-domiciled taxpayers. It expressly covers non-domiciled providers of digital services to individuals without business activity when they have withholding or collection responsibilities for IGV. The October 2026 deadline for September activity is October 15, while October activity is scheduled for November 13.

A digital-services provider should therefore close its transaction data monthly rather than waiting for the quarterly or annual income-tax process. Useful records include customer location, payment processor reports, invoices, tax collected, refunds, and the date on which the tax obligation arose.

Mexico: Monitor Updated Administrative Rules and Forms

Mexico's SAT lists second and third modifications to the 2026 Miscellaneous Tax Resolution published on October 1 and October 2, respectively. The same official source also records an October modification to Annex 2 concerning tax procedures and a modification to Annex 7 containing normative tax criteria. Businesses should compare their tax-process manuals and electronic filing workflows against the latest versions rather than relying on the December 2025 rules alone.

Practical Month-End Checklist

  • Build a deadline calendar by country and taxpayer identifier.
  • Assign a responsible reviewer for every electronic return.
  • Download and archive official filing acknowledgements.
  • Reconcile tax collected or withheld to bank and invoicing data.
  • Review recent resolutions before submitting forms that depend on updated procedures.
  • Escalate any cross-border service, digital-service, or non-domiciled activity for specialized review.

The most important lesson is operational: a taxpayer can have the correct tax calculation and still incur exposure by using the wrong filing version, missing an identifier-based deadline, or failing to retain proof of electronic submission.
